Approved Trade – Minnesota & Philadelphia

leave a comment »

You thought that the Youkilis trade from San Diego to Florida was the blockbuster trade of the preseason?  Well think again!

Minnesota and Philadelphia have made an even larger trade.

Philadelphia acquired Cy Young winner Zack Grienke and catcher Ivan Rodriguez  from Minnesota for the #5 pick in the draft and Boston’s 3rd Round Pick.

This now gives Philadelphia the Ace pitcher he was looking for and I-Rod a -1 catcher with awesome defense not found in the draft.  Definately fills two holes on the Phillies.

Minnesota on the other hand now owns the #3 and #5 overall picks in the draft.  The possibilities are endless does he go offense & defense?  Does he draft Nathan and Figgins/Teixeira, Ichiro and Raphael Soriano, Ichiro & Crawford?  Nathan & Crawford?

We’ll have to wait and see.  But something tells me Minnesota has a few more packages in the works.
